Overdose death in Grey Bruce prompts warning from health unit

A Grey Bruce resident has died of a suspected overdose this week, renewing calls from the health unit to practice harm reduction when using drugs. The individual was in their mid-30s and passed away in hospital on Dec. 6 after life-saving measures were unsuccessful. Fentanyl is the suspected opioid responsible for the overdose, although toxicology results are still pending. The Grey Bruce Health Unit says the individual may have been mixing opioids and alcohol. This is the fourth suspected fatal drug overdose reported to Grey Bruce Public Health since August....

Grey Sauble Conservation Writes To Premier About Bill 23

The Grey Sauble Conservation Authority has sent a letter to Ontario Premier Doug Ford and his relevant ministers, pointing out some key concerns with regard to the recently passed Bill 23, the More Homes Built Faster Act. They are concerned legislative changes could negatively impact rural Ontario, possibly increase risk to life and property for residents, increase costs and potentially delay approval timelines....

Kincardine’s CT scanner set to go live on March 20

The Kincardine hospital’s new CT scanner should be fully operational by March, meaning residents will not longer have to travel for diagnostic imaging. The South Bruce Grey Health Centre provided an update on two big capital projects to close out the year, noting that construction of the CT scanner suite should wrap up in February before the machine arrives at the end of that month. The target go-live date is March 20....
