More new COVID cases and more clinics opening in Grey Bruce

There were a total of 10 new COVID-19 cases in the Grey Bruce region over the weekend. 4 occurred on Saturday, another 6 on Sunday. 
Just 3 of the cases (2 in Arran-Elderslie, 1 in Saugeen Shores) were in Bruce County. There are now 2,229 confirmed cases with 32 active and 2,171 resolved. There are also 40 active high-risk contacts and 3 are currently hospitalized. Ontario reported 722 new infections on Sunday and two related deaths....

AFN National Chief Visits Saugeen First Nation, Chippewas Of Nawash

Saugeen First Nation had a special guest visit the community over the weekend. The National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations, RoseAnne Archibald, dropped in on Saturday (Aug. 21) to talk to Chief Lester Anoquot and the First Nation council ... and to listen to community members.... She says First Nations and non-Indigenous communities need to move forward and heal together.... Archibald was frank, saying, “Canada has committed genocide; the UN (United Nations) has called it genocide and I think more and more people are recognizing it as genocide and I think that’s an important message–we find a healing path forward...."

Church service attracts small gathering to commemorate anniversary of Goderich tornado

There was a gathering of close to 100 people at Courthouse Square in Goderich on Saturday to observe the 10-year anniversary of the tornado that ripped through the town. Organizer Pastor Rob Gauthier was joined by Mayor John Grace and Councillor Stephen Tamming for the 20-minute service....
