Council To Discuss Next Move After Lost Appeal In Sauble Plover Court Battle

The Town of South Bruce Peninsula will hold a closed council meeting Thursday (April 28) to determine the path forward after losing its latest appeal in its legal battle over Piping Plover habitat. Mayor Janice Jackson says the Town is “deeply disappointed” with the outcome. The Piping Plover is an endangered shore bird that is protected by the Endangered Species Act.... The legal issue arises out of the argument that beach raking could destroy plover habitat....

Port Elgin North Shore Park Closed For Tree Cleanup

The Town of Saugeen Shores says Port Elgin’s North Shore Park is closed this week. The Town says crews are on site removing hazardous tree debris from last September’s storm. The park is closed from April 25th to the 29th....

Emergency Preparedness Week is Next Week May 1st to 7th

In advance of Emergency Preparedness Week next week Bruce County is reminding residents to have a minimum of 72 hours of supplies in the event of an emergency. They advise that should one happen it may take emergency workers some time to reach you....
