Bruce Road 15 work wraps up this week

This Friday will see construction on Bruce Road 15 in Inverhuron wrap up for the year. The Municipality of Kincardine says all work for the 2022 season will be completed by end of day on Dec. 9. Any restoration efforts or warranty work that are still required for the project will happen in the spring of 2023 However. the Victoria St. gate in Inverhuron will be closed again on Monday, Dec. 12....

Local vigils mark day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women

Today is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, to remember those who have experienced gender-based violence and those who have lost their lives to it. The day was prompted by the tragedy 33 years ago at l’École Polytechnique de Montréal, when 14 women were murdered in a violent act of misogyny. To mark the day, people are encouraged to wear a white ribbon, observe a moment of silence at 11 a.m. and attend a vigil in your community, like the one at Coulter Parkette in Port Elgin at noon or Kincardine United Church’s 7 p.m. vigil....

Kincardine Council Gives Their Support To Early Childcare Staff & Resources Advocacy Effort... Kincardine councillor Beth Blackwell says that the need for childcare in the municipality came up a number of times during her election campaign. “This is something I’d like our council to support and something I’d really like to be on Bruce County’s radar,” she said during Monday’s meeting, adding, “There’s a real staffing crisis in the childcare sector in Ontario. Waitlists in our area have been long, for a very long time, but it’s really getting very dire...."
