Kincardine announces hiring of Three New Family Physicians for the Municipality

The Municipality of Kincardine will have three new physicians joining the community in 2024. The municipality’s Physician Recruitment and Retention Committee announced that they had reached an agreement with  Dr. Janine Van Veghel and Dr. Owen Montpellier to practice family medicine in the community once they complete their residencies. The committee previously announced in 2020 that Dr. Allegra Reeves would also be practicing medicine in Kincardine....

Kincardine Council To Send Input To Provincial Government Over Bill 23

Kincardine’s new council has directed the municipality to send their concerns over the provincial government’s proposed Bill 23, also known as the More Houses Built Faster Act. The motion, which was brought forward by new councillor Amanda Steinhoff-Gray, points out that Bill 23 and its proposed regulations were not in the best interest of the Municipality of Kincardine....

Federal Immigration Targets Could Help Address Regional Labour Shortage

Four County Labour Market Planning Board Executive Director Dana Soucie says the federal government’s plan to bring half a million immigrants into the country by 2025 is an option to help boost the region’s labour force. Earlier this month, federal Immigration Minister Sean Fraser announced a goal of bringing in 500,000 immigrants to Canada per year by 2025 to help boost the country’s economy. This goal comes as the unemployment rate for the Stratford-Bruce Peninsula Economic Region recently fell to its lowest since 2006 — 2.3 per cent....
