Grey Bruce top doctor warns of potential third wave in our region

Residents are being reminded to keep up their efforts to fight the spread of COVID-19. Medical Officer of Health with the Grey Bruce Health Unit Dr Ian Arra says we cannot become complacent as a third wave is possible in this area. There have been less than 800 confirmed cases and he says despite being in a favorable position with only 41 active cases, residents need to remain vigilant....

Construction on sports park to get underway after awarding of contract

Shovels will soon hit the ground on the new Lamont Sports Park in Port Elgin. Saugeen Shores Council gave final approval on Monday (22nd) on a tender that was submitted by Anthony Furlano Construction for the first phase of the $5.3 Million project. Mayor Luke Charbonneau says work is expected to begin by the end of the month and completed within a year....

Organization worries pandemic will force newcomers to Canada out of rural areas

An organization is hoping to help immigrants to Canada settle in Huron and Perth Counties. The Multicultural Association of Perth-Huron has set up a main office in Stratford and a satellite office at the Bedford Hotel in Goderich. There has been a number of immigrants leaving rural areas for larger urban centres since the start of the pandemic....
